I recently turned in a resume to a job that I really want to get at a high scale restaurant. How long do you think I should wait to check back and show that I am interested without being a pest? When I turned in the resume I handed it to the head chef (the only one there) because unfortunately the owner was not there. He said he would be sure to get it to the owner who does the hiring. Do you think it would be insulting to the chef if I go back in right away to check to see if it was received?

Call the manager (early next week) and just let them know you are calling to follow up on your job application that you submitted last week. "My name is JOhn Doe and I am calling to confirm that you rec'd the resume I submitted last week and was wondering if you had any questions about my resume".

I suggest to you to place a call at a time you know they're not busy, reassure them your interested in the position and eager to set up a interview with them.
Once you have called them, I suggest giving in another day and calling them back,
It is not being a pest just shows interest and persistence. The worst case is they will tell you no. But that is a chance you take when filling out an app or turning in a resume :) Good Luck to you !

Don't call back every day. They will just get annoyed with you.

Call after 2 days, and see if you can speak with the owner, or the person responsible for hiring. If they don't have it, ask if you can submit another directly to that person. Sometimes... they do get misplaced... Be very professional at all times.

I would check to see if the resume was received by the very next day. If not, call every day until it is. If it was, the call back 3 days later to see if it has been looked at.
