Im 37 weeks pregnant. Is it safe to try to induce my labor? And if it is, how?

I personally dont think its a good idea, I am also 37 weeks, Unless your doctor thinks it is nessary for the health of the baby I would wait. The baby releases a hormone that tells your body that he/she is ready. Most doctors say that letting your baby come when ready is the best. Like I said Im also 37 weeks and I have no idea how to get thought until my baby boy gets here, the heat is killing me. But I think you should try to wait your baby knows when he/she is ready, although it is hard injoy the preganacy while you can because once the baby is here you may be wishing to still be pregnant. If your doctor thinks you need to then I would get ask another doctor and if they say the same then I would, but if not just give it time. Also I have read that induction doesnt always work and it could cause a harder labor. If you just want to induce because you believe you are ready I would do as much research and make a choice that is best from what the doctors say. I know there are ways to induce labor my yourself but I dont really know of any expect sex...you can go to your doctor and request an induction and the shot give you a shot that will make you go into early labor. you should really wait until you are 40 weeks or until the little one decides to make its appearance. You want the baby to be completely developed, babies born early can have health problems later on in life (particularly in childhood, especially asthma), I honestly wouldnt try to make it come until you are overdue, even then it isn't always really overdue most doctors just estimate by when you missed your period and subtract 14 days(estimated time of ovulation) then they add 280 days, this is done by that cute little cardboard wheel, the problem with this (we all dont have perfect predictable cycles). For example the doctor told my mother she would have a new baby under her christmas tree or spend christmas in the hospital, I came January 21st. Also if this is your first baby, they usually come late. Sex and spicy food was made popular by the tv show friends, walking is another safe method, especially if you feel you are too big for sex, cod liver oil will help relieve constipation that often occurs near the end of pregnancy and many women claim it helps induce labor. You really shouldn't try any of these without talking to your doctor, even though you arent doing anything medically invasive, you dont want to take the bun out of the oven before its done (especially since you cant put it back in like real baked goods). Honey you can try to induce you labor but all the methods don't work.

Castro oil will just make you Crap your pants for hours on end


Sex just makes you hurt

walking helps to shorten labor at least that is what they say.


the best thing to do is relax and let things progress the way they should.

Try taking a warm bath in candle lite with soft music.

try getting comfortable on the couch and take some naps.

the more relaxed you are the better off you will be.

My oldest who is 7 rubbed my belly with lotion and sang to me and that felt really good.

hubby rubbed my feet and took really good care of me and let me use him for a body pillow.

i know that you are uncomfortable and all of that but just try to relax and the last 2 weeks will fly by.

i had both of my children at 38 weeks plus a couple of days.

i tried everything with my first to have him early and nothing worked.

Why not just wait until your body and your baby are ready? Is there a medical reason for you to be induced? If not, be patient and trust your body and your baby to know when it is time. Go get a massage or a chiropractic adjustment if you are uncomfortable. This will help make you feel better and help balance your body so labor will be easier. Be patient...all babies DO come out eventually!

sex is supposed to help induce..

walking up and down some stairs...walking around...clean the house...sometimes those options work

Your doctor can induce you with petocin (spelling?). If you are getting too large or go too far past your due date he will usually go along with it. Took me a day to start labor after getting the petocin drip. My baby was over 9 1/2 lbs. Those last days are awful aren't they? Best Wishes & Congratulations!

I know you are probably tired of being pregnant, but you want to make it to 38 weeks if you can - the closer to a full 40 weeks, the better. Good luck!

walking
driving on a bumpy road
sex
spicy food

your child would survive if born now, but what your doc is going to tell you is wait.
the longer a fetus has in the womb the better, unless VERY overdue(at least 3 weeks)
try to stick it out unless there are complications.
i had to induce because of my baby's size at 36 wks but my doctor waited as long as physically possible for me.
i'm pretty small and my husband and siblings are nearly 7' tall.
family history decided she would be large as well i guess.....
anywho, talk to your doc before deciding to do ANYTHING.....
home remedy or otherwise.

The best thing to do is wait until your due date..or past that...They dont want you to naturally try to induce unless you are 40 and over...Just wait..I know it sucks, but the baby will come when his ready to..
