Some are some not...

I used to work at a grocery store for 8 years. In that time I got married, bought a house, and had a beautiful daughter. But eventually going to work at a grocery everyday became too embarrassing and I went back to college and got not one, but two degrees just to make sure I never had to work in a grocery store again. Trust me, I was very much the exception to the rule. I have never met such a bunch of immature and childish people in my life as my co-workers. And I'm talking about the adults! After three months there I honestly refused to be seen in public with any of them. So to answer the question, every grocery store probably has a couple or even a handful of decent hard working good people. But most of the people who work there do because they don't actually want to work for a living and have given up on ever making anything of themselves. Most of them are losers

Wrong. They are WORKING. What is wrong with working at a grocery store? For many people it's a great job-you can usually get part time hours, which is great for students, people who have retired and want a limited income, mom's who have kids in school, and so on. In fact, I live near Rochester NY, where there is a chain of family owned stores called Wegmans. It's been voted in the Top 10 places to work for the last 6 years. They offer tuition assiatance for students, job sharing, day care options, health care/ dental care and many other benefits. They also have a very strong volunteer force with employees to do community work. People that work full time get all the benefits and it is a good job. So, what do you do for a living? Hopefully something-or do you sit on your lazy *** and collect unemployment or welfare?

You worded that in a very great way. I have had this thought too lately, and it is very depressing. Basically it seems that the only purpose to life is continue a never-ending cycle of reproduction. However, this is why I think it is a huge problem that our society places value on constant, edgy work and career achievement, and such little value on lax things like recreation, experience, and sensational enjoyment in general. Because we all realize that once we die, all these things like money, career, professional status, will no longer matter. Therefore why should these things matter now? When you realize that this is true (life is just a neverending life-death, Darwinnian cycle), it is hard to find enjoyment in strict, edgy, work-obsessed corporate and political things because you realize that these accomplishments don't matter in the grand scheme of things. This is why we need to readjust our mindsets to learn to simply enjoy existing, being in the here and now, and not feeling some obligation to go on a crazed production spree until the moment of our death.

Not all of them. Some are decent and friendly, aiming to earn an honest dollar. I think some bus drivers are worthless and stupid people with meaningless lives. Bus drivers are really glorified pilots. That's all.

No & I'm sorry if some stupid person made you feel thay way. Everyone has a purpose and duty to leave the earth a better place in their own fashion. Don't listen to those ignorant people, believe in yourself. The only good those people do is to ignite passion to prove them wrong in the rest of us.

No, that would be you. Hardworking people are not worthless and their lives do have meaning. It's jerks like you that lead worthless, meaningless lives. I'll bet your mother is real proud of you. Not!

It is OK for you to vent about Your job here. But try not to take the working at the grocery store to badly, and always remember that the customer is always right. :-)

Nope, I don't think so. You do what you gotta do to survive in this cold and cruel world. If it's working in a grocery store, then so be it.

I'm guessing your job is so meaningful that world cannot exist without it, eh, Mr. Gates?
