everytime i try to start it up, it shuts down as it is entering windows. i dont know how to see if there is anything wrong, like a virus because i can't start it up. i dont know what to do! help!!!!

this is a common problem.
PC's generally heat up due to use. Depending on the kind of laptop you have they may employ a passive cooling method (which tends to have overheating issues) If your fan does come on that should be alright.
If your fan stops alltogether then it may be a cause for concern. No cooling = melting internally

what model is your latlop?
You may want to boot it up with safe mode and check virus from that point on
