I sort of know what you are talking about. Did the voice sound like someone you know? If it did, give that person a call or visit them. Sometimes our minds play tricks on us. That is one of them. If it continues, however, you should see a psychiatrist.

Could mean lots of things.

Did the voice sound like it was coming from outside or inside?

What did it say?

Possible explanations include.

Telepathy (someone was thinking really hard about you, a gifted individual reached out for you conciously or sub-conciously or somebody was extremely emotional when thinking about you).

Ghosts - they do more than appear. They can move objects and speak.

Trick of the mind. A misfire in a synapse caused a noise to be interpited as a voice. That it sounded clear and distinct only means that your mind did a bit of sound enhancing. We do it every day all the time but it's subconcious so we are unware of the filtering and enhancing going on.

Psychosis from mental illness or lack of sleep.

Sound carried from a vent or electronics. I remember one time we were practicing and over one of our amps a police radio was picked up. Freaked the whole band out. We thought we were being too loud and that the cops were outside trying to get our attention. Sounds can travel in many wierd ways and electronics often pick up transient signals.

These are some of many possible explanations. Rule out the mundane first. Be as objective about it as possible.

If you keep hearing voices then it's time to be concerned. You have to validate if they are real or a product of mental illness. Schizophrenia or how ever you spell it produces frequent audio hallucinations. Bipolar has been known to do the same at times.
What the voices say is probably your best bet for determining that. Also whether it's external or internal. Internal is telepathy or illness. External has a cause of some sort.

For it to be a ghost you'll find other evidence of haunting. Coldness in the room, objects moved, maybe even see a ghost.

Listen close to the vents where you heard the voice. Often through vents you can hear things many rooms away. A radio blaring on the other side of the house oculd have piced up a voice and if it echoed just right it could have traveled through a vent. If you have downstairs or upstairs neighbors it's even more likely.

If you rule out all of the above I have an idea or two that might fit things. Just for general notes of all the times I've thought I've heard a voice, %99 turned out to be explainable and often very common phenonomon.

You just may have been hearing voices. YES I am serious!

If there was no other explanation for the voices, being people outside yelling, or what ever.
Then you need to check out this.

Depends. Was the radio on? Was someone in another room YELLING for them to get off their lazy butt? Hehehehe.

Excellent question!
Keep smiling, because life is too short!
Especially if you just saved a lot of money on your car insurance!

I would say the level of fear toward this happening depends on what that person heard the voice(s) say.

could be many reasons - being over tired can lead to it but there could be a psychiatric disorder involved.
Drugs, of course, could play a part.
what did the voices say? tell you anything? etc? email me if you need ???
