In ealier days there was slavery, now that there isn't slavery, why does it seem that african-americans are starting to be racist?
I mean that happened in the past,& not now. So why is everyone mad at us?????? Can't we just all get along,we can learn from the past, but we don't have to use it to make opinions on things in the future. Please explain. All races,& responces are welcomed.

i know what you mean! it's getting out of control, and obviously, nobody alive today was a slave owner, or enslaved....so why the fuss? i think that it gets pushed into their brains from older relatives, that white people are bad, and they grow up thinking that. i don't think all blacks are racists, nor all whites. but some really are. can you imagine the uproar if we wanted a 'white history month'? OMG! talk about sh*t hitting the fan. i personally think that black history month, without a white one, is slightly racist. i don't think that the other 11 months we hold giant celebrations for white folks. there are people in the media that are very racist, in my opinion. (jesse jackson and al sharpton.) in louisville, we have a couple of them, but they are just local black racists. anyway, i wish that we could all just get along! i'm white, but i have many black friends, gladly, they hold no grudges for what my ancestors did.

i don't agree with racism at all, but i guess that some people feel they have the right to be racist nowadays because they are still suffering from the effects of the racism inflicted on their race in the past. that's the only possible 'reasoning' i can see.
hey, have something else to add - i live in south africa, where racism was law up till 10 years ago, so basically everyone (even white people) is still suffering from the effects of living in a racist society. i have friends of all races - luckily i go to a school which is very mixed, and together, we acknowledge what happened, yet we don't hold against each other and feel comfortable even making jokes about racism with each other. I think that because we are exposed to each other we are sort of 'saved' from becoming racist - i've realised/learnt that racism arises mostly from ignorance,

Some one is racist in every culture. I think it is because they are uneducated or had one bad experience and have a hard time getting past it. Racism is ugly and people who practice it have an ugly heart and they need to learn to put a new foundation on it so they can see what true beauty is

Because most white people, not all, are racist. They are just sneakier with it. The game of racism has become more sophisticated. They can't tell African americans to sit at the back of the bus but they can choose not to hire him to drive it.

Racism remains as long as ignorance, mistrust, hatred, and the desire for power and superiority over others remains. It's evils work in both directions and is not limited to black versus white. Racism often generates opposing racism. If one race hates another, that hatred is often likewise returned.
Is it right? Definitely not. Unfortunately, until humanity learns to live by the "Golden Rule" of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", racism will continue to exist.

They are feeling hatred and want revenge, but nont everyone is racist. We can only hope that everyone will unite to create a better world and the firsts step to doing that is being kind to others yourself.

i am NOT racist not even the slightest, but the reason some african americans r like that is becuase of the horrible things we did to them in the past, they have years of hurt and hatred towards us in there hearts that they feel that now that they are free they have to return it to us. i know its not a good thing to be racist, but it happens. the best thing to do is to forgive and forget. thats wat the bible tells us to do.
