It's an 8x8 enclosed area that is surrounded by a 3 foot high wall on two sides, my condo (stucco exterior) and walkway on the others. I looked up online how to do it, but they all involve using sand and concrete as foundations. How dangerous is it if I just level the ground and put down the pavers? Any advice is helpful. Thx.

is the area grass or dirt if so remove grass and level area, sand and gravel should be used but if you want to chance it and depending on what typ[e of soil you have, you may get away with just tamping the dirt down real good and placing you pavers in about a 1/4in. to 1/2 in. apart, then fill cracks in with sand or mortar mix, about a 80 lb. bag should be enough, sweep it in good in all directions then water lightly to help settle, when dry and after a day or so check for loose pavers and open gaps add more mix to gaps and wet again. if you have a wobbly paver put a little sand or mortar mix underit to level it.

you really need to have the pavers sitting on a resilient base. if they are just on top of concrete, they will moste certainly crack and be uneven, not to mention noisy. if you don't want to have loose sand, the only other option I can think of would be to install them like tiles using a mortar, which would make them permanent, though you would still have to fill the gaps with sand since you can't grout pavers.
good luck

You should really use some sand or crushed gravel. It helps to keep the pavers level.

the foundation helps make a firm surface to walk on.
if you put the pavers on to soil the ones you walk on most will gradually sink into the ground.
