Many men "cannot comment" on another mans looks and say stuff like "because Im straight" As a wonan I can easily comment on another womans looks without even thinking of the gay/straight issue. My bf says its homophobia but for what other reason might this be?

Social conditioning. The fear of perhaps finding another man actually attractive may be too much for some, so better not to evaluate at all.

For the most part I can't tell if a guy looks nice or not. I can tell if he has a nice build though, that's pretty obvious. One time I sat down with a girl and a magazine and tried to predict which guys she would like and which ones she wouldn't. I had no way of knowing.
I also don't know if my own face looks nice or not.
I guess we can tell a hot girl by the way looking at her makes us feel. When we look at a guy we just don't get that feeling so we don't have any way of knowing.

I have no problem making those kinds of comments (e.g. "I guess he's better looking than Joe" or taking it to a more humorous extreme with "If I were a woman, I'd do him").
I agree with your boyfriend. The person who resists making those kinds of comments is afraid of even being *perceived* to play for the other team.

Because society has made it to be that way. It is acceptable for woman on moman, but not man on man. On this actual case is also the Men themselfs. I can comment on anybody. I don't care what people say, but other people do care about their reviews.

Well,they say women think with both sides of their brain.While men have a dominate side.Could be phobia and maybe a closet case.Maybe time will tell,as research advances.
