I don't see either side backing down off its rhetoric or actions. If we side too much with Israel, we're damned in Iraq and Afghanistan because most Arabs hate Israel. If we side too much with the Palestinians we'll lose a key ally. Israel is in no danger of losing any war, so why get involved at all?

We can't force people to play nicely, and what place do we have to tell them what Israel or the Palestinians/Lebanese (or Syria or Iran or any other nation for that matter) what to do in the first place?

This is a tough one is'nt it? As a Christian nation we have a responsibility to help people when they are in need, this is why we get into so much trouble sometimes. We also are the biggest country and the mightiest, so sometimes we can tend to push our weight around alittle too much.
Stay out of it? I don't think this will be possible. The longer it goes on, the more countries will get involved, and we won't be able to stay out of it. All countries will take different sides. This is when the end comes too, when all get involved and go to a big war.

We need to support Israel while there is a war between Muslims and Israel. No one thinks that in a conflict between Isreal and Muslims the US is impartial. If there is a war we should support our friends, Israel. After they win then the US can influence Israel. But as long as Muslims, Palestinians, Arabs, etc honestly think Israel has NO right to even exist the US should make sure Israel never loses a war. Don't forget the Palestinians were the group of people every American remembers cheering and dancing when they saw the attacks of 9/11. So let them reap what they sow.

When was the last time the Palestinians used their influence to help the US? They are at war because they are a hate-filled people more interested in hating than making the best of their bad situation.

If anything could solve the Israel Palestine conflict, it would be the relocation of the Jewish state. When Britian created the the Jewish state of Israel after WWII, the did not think about the emence clash of cultures about to occur. The reason this conflict arose is because Palestine and other arab countries see Israel as a foreign invader. (and some wish them off the face of the earth, as the president of Iran resently stated in the news) If Israel was relocated, we could keep our crucial ally and rid our world of the Israel Palestine conflict.

I'm sure you've heard this before . . . Freedom isn't free. If nothing else, America is the land of the free. Men and women died to free us from British rule and have continued to this day fighting and dieing for the cause of freedom around the globe. Israel just wants the terrorists, like Hezbollah, Hamas, etc., to leave them alone. If we are going to stand on the side of right and freedom then we must be willing to fight with Israel against the terrorists. So, no, we should not stay out of the conflict. If we do we are the worst kind of hypocrites.

So long as they dont go nuking eachother i think its best to let them duke it out. Although if other nations dont atleast express their stand on the issue there is no deturant to keep places like iran and syria from jumping in with all their weapons out, which could lead to a serious war.

Our silence doesnt do anything to make anyone happy, its impossible for america to do anything in this world and gain praise from any other country. We are hated no just for what we do and dont do, but because of what we represent. And thats not just bad things, the world hates the good things we do also.

But we do pose a threat to smaller nations that would otherwise risk open war, the UN owes a duty to the rest of the global community to play some sort of role in every battle. Even if it is a non hands on one.

It should (because we contribute to the violence) but Washington is corporate owned and Israel influenced.

We have always acted like gods and it has come abck to bite us in the ****. We have always made it worse (Israel, Somalia, Palestine, Chile, Vietnam, Iraq etc) but congress knows that without Israeli support they will never get back in...

i think it would be very dangerous for the US to get directly involved in the fighting...it might draw another country like russia or china into the conflict to try to offset what might be seen as a total takeover of the midle east.
