i think ronaldo is a great player, but he is no longer at the top of his game...i think he has an immense amount of skill and amazing ability, however i think that he will soon be overcome by the faster, younger players that are less prone to injury. brazil will keep him on the roster until he decides that he no longer wishes to play, they will probably do this to keep the ronaldo-ronaldinho legend together for as long as possible probably for publicity reasons. i think that ronaldo will always be an amazing player and that you don't lose that kind of skill with a weight gain! and he showed it too with his record breaking goals....however i think that the next world cup will probably be his last...football is a tough sport on the body and is very demanding and if ronaldo can't hold up to the expectations the world has set for him, it might be better for him just to leave with his dignity, pride, and legendary self still entact. but i definently think he has a couple more years...however i don't know if brazil liked losing in the world cup at such an early stage for them....we'll see what happens...but personally i always expect excellent football from the brazilian team! :)

Ronaldo is 32 which means that in the next world cup he will be 36. There are a lot of players who play but 36 seems to be the last possible age to be in the World cup if you ask me. He didn't announce that he wasn't coming back so I am pretty sure that he will but he could be making an anouncement if he plans to retire maybe after the olympics which is in 2 more years. Anywayz, I hope that he does return cause I don't think that he got the result that he wanted in the World Cup this year. Especially with everyone wondering about his weight problems and stuff like that. I think that Brasil is one of the best teams out there and well with out Ronaldo they will need some seroius help. So once he makes the announcement if he chooses to then trust me Brasil will be on the look for someone and it's not gonna be just anyone it's gonna be someone great or who has the potential to be great. Otherwise I think we have a pretty good chance at seeing him and Brasil in the 2010 World Cup!!!!

Respect him, Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima
he was ONE of THE best football players the world have seen since Magnificent years of Diego Maradona, Pele & so on.. sure this year he doen't play too good.! but see his previous games, he is definitely the best, he is a legend, the Brasil's Number 9! anyway, he did mentioned that he will shape up for 2010's World Cup, so, we have not seen the last of him. so, do not crticise him much for his performance this year but do remember his best years, and the years to come.
so cheers to Ronaldo.

I certainly hope he comes back. Life does not end at 36 but it would certainly be a challenge for an athlete. If his health stays good I don't see why he wouldn't be back but I know that he just had surgery on his leg. No telling how much trouble its been giving him or for how long but that may explain why he's put on a little weight if he hasn't been able to workout full-time. Did you hear that he has been banned from driving for a year due to speeding tickets. He says they aren't all his; that other family members also drove his car and interestingly he even got a ticket in Brazil when he was in Germany. Figure that one out.

I dont think we ever heard him saying he was retiring after this world cup? Unlike players like Figo and Zidane...he should be making a return in 2010. I hope he will be fitter, as fast as he was before and of course much slimmer.
He still has it in him to produce wonders and become the best player in the next world cup!!
I have faith in all the Brasilian players!

Definitely not. Although i don't think that he performed the way he could have, he's still a brilliant player. And unless he quits, don't think they will find anybody to replace him any time soon. Or at least i hope so. He's quite a character, and to not see him running on the field at 2010... would be a shame.

i dont think hes that old yet....he could definitely last till another world cup....but face it, he was out of shape and it was obvious. he's supposed to be one of the world's greatest players but i definitely didnt see much of that during this world cup.
either way, i think he should stay for at least one more that way he can use it to prove how good he really is.
