Wow, wish I could say "ME, PICK ME!!!" but I don't think the US Navy would take too kindly to me going UA on them.
I would say port cities. Places that have a lot of sea traffic from fishing boats, to cargo vessels and sailing ships.
I would recommend places like Boston, MA, New York, NY, Norfolk, VA and Key West, FL.

A Shipwright or a Shipyard or a Marina is best place to find a Vessel. An advert in or on Sailing Magazing, Lattitude 48, Cruiser World and a few others can get a crew. But then again, a Crew is not a buncha landlubbers that want to go Cruising. Bluewater Sailing is a very serious undertakeing and requires a working knowledge of many things, such as, Points of Sail, Oceanic Currents and Prevailing Winds. A modicum of Celestial Navigation, a good and confident Skipper. (Anybody that is at the Wheel or Tiller of a vessel is assumed to be the Captain.)
So your crew also has to possess a working knowledge Navigational Rules and Know How.
After you have attained the Confidence to undertake such a voyage, then go for it and have fun!

You'll need a heck of a lot more than a ship and a crew. A crew is unnecessary. Many hundreds of people have sailed around the world solo.
What you will very badly need is a heck of a lot of sailing know-how. There are hundreds of suitable boats on the market. Be sure to pick one made for rough sailing. Stay away from the so-called cruiser-racers.
Avoid fin keels and spade rudders. This isn't the place to fully explain all the reasons for selecting one thing and avoiding another but don't select until you study a couple of sailing magazines for a couple of years. My favorite is CRUISING.

A good place to look is yachtworld.com for boats of all sizes. As for a crew, it depends on your experience, and how large a vessel you plan on sailing, and the trip's courses. Since you're going around the world, I'd suggest you marry a captain!

I don't think I would let you borrow my boat and crew Buddie. If you have to ask that kind of question you are NOT a sailor man. Go take a hike.

Why are you going? The reason will dictate the size and type of boat/ship.
