He's had some arthrospopic surgery that will keep him of the court during the summer...nothing serious. He just wants to remove scar/ cartilage from the knee...12 week recovery time.
Kobe is smart..he's taking care of this early in the summer.
Incidently, maybe Kobe and Shaq are both maturing. Shaq acknowledged that he couldn't win any of his championships without Kobe or Wade.
Kobe called Jordan Farmar, the Laker rookie guard and was first to welcome him to the team. I believe he also called some other acquired player and asked what he could do to help to make the transition smoother.
