Carpe Diem! (Sieze the Day!)... can't beat that for an elementary philosophy! Stay with your dreams, mate. They are what matter in your otherwise simple existence. We need them to feel alive!
This was a good & timely question!

Aaaaaah, that's a good film. It's been a while since I've seen it but I recall being more than satisfied by it.

Yes.. I have to agree with your call, that the philosophy of it was along the lines of living with your eyes wide open. Wasn't there a particular philosopher poet who's quotation or image or symbol of some kind, a plaque perhaps, was hung above the door? If I'm remembering the film correctly, there was something like that, and it was the at the core of the films meaning.

Thanks for the question. It brought me to a good place in my own mind.

I really enjoyed the movie but disappointed with the ending, though I understand the need for it to be that way. Movies that make you think are great ones.

Some very fine talent came out of that film and it was both well acted and superbly directed.
