First check out the value of it in the 2006 Blue Book. Then start it up, listen to engine, make sure not leaking any fluids, check if engine looks clean, does it purr? Check the dash to see if any engine lights come on, if so there is a problem somewhere. Check to see if all the tires are properly inflated and if they have good treads. Take it for a drive if you have a license and are given permission to do so and it is insured. If its a standard go thru each gear and see that it shifts smoothly no jumps, bangs or grinds. Make sure the breaks work well. If it is automatic then you need to listen as it changes gears on its own, no jerks or hesitation as it goes from one gear to another. Look for dents, dings, patching and/ or new paint job. Could have been in an accident that caused frame damage, damage to the under carraige, suspension system and could become a major financial risk. Check all inside, in trunk and just under hood to see if any water damage. With all the floods around the country they often hide water damage in cars that have been completely emerged and again will become a major financial loss. Always speak up for yourself and don't let anyone talk you into something you arn't sure of. Finally have it checked by a professional mechanic before you buy it.

go to kbb.com for used cars, a fair value is the difference between sell it yourself and the trade in value. Then go to msn .com click on Autos link and read the reports on each car you are interested in. they will tell you if they are good or not. Good luck with your search...FYI i have always had Good luck with Subaru's and Toyota's.

the only sure way to know is have a qualified mechanic do an all points check....then and only then if he says it's ok do you buy....make sure you bring it to someone you know and trust..
