What "christ"? No such being existed.
BCE means "before common era". Reputable historians use the same dating as the christian mythology calendard because it's commonly used around the world, not because it represents anything.
And 1000 BCE means 3006 years ago.

This was real confusing to me at first studying history.
The count both ways as Jesus being one.
C E is the christian Era where we are from Jesus birth until today 2006
BC starts as one at Jesus Birth and goes backwards
As the era of the kings or king david as 1000 year period
Abraham as around 2000 and Noah and the flood 3000
Adam as about 4000 years before christ. That is how they arrive at the fact that mankind has been on the earth 6000. years in 1975

B.C.E is actually before common era. Just B.C would be before Christ. The tenth century B.C. would be 10,000 years before christ or the common era, but it means the same thing (before common era and before Christ I mean-they revolve around the same zero.)
