You do not have to get rid of your endorsement, but if you afraid to ride (accident, injury, whatever) you do not need to be on the bike. You will end up being overly cautious and hurt yourself or someone else. Every activity has a risk and you need to be willing to accept that risk and the consequences that go with it. Until such time that being on a bike is right for you, your safer off of it.

Don't worry about losing a leg. You have a spare.
But seriously, I've been riding 24 years and have all my limbs. Here are a few motorcycling stay-alive-and-with-legs tips:
1) Ride like you are invisible. You are to other drivers. Accept this and you will live.
2) Always ride a little faster than everyone else. It keeps them from sneaking up on you (like roaches).
3) Acceleration can get you out of trouble as well as into trouble.
4) Keep your brakes in good shape, and always have at least one exit path.
5) Scan constantly.
6) Learn to drive fast. It sharpens your reactions at normal speeds.
7) Ride a bike that puts you in an alert posture like a UJM or sportbike.
8) Ride in extreme conditions like heavy rain or snow. It trains your skills further.
9) Clear your mind now and then with triple digits.

Keep your license. Take a motorcycle safety course sponsered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Read all the safety articles in motorcycle magazines that you can find. I have over 300,000 safe motorcycle miles. For many years it has been my only form of transportation. You just have to do it safely and you can do it forever.

If you already have your license, keep it! Even if you don't ride your bike it will be easier for you down the road if you decide to pick it back up.
Just keep your whits about when you ride. Stay aware of your surroundings. And most importantly.. Don't Drive Beyond Your Limits! Know you abilities!
