Excedrin Migraine works WONDERS!! Also, just relaxing and taking it easy...relieving the stress. Soothing music also helps. I know when I changed my music station at work, it helped (either that or it was when I quit! LOL).

Another idea is to keep a log of what you are eating/drinking and when the headaches occurred. My sister used to have horrible headaches for YEARS...went to all these doctors...finally found one that said she was allergic to sugar, yeast, and something else... So now, she knows if she wants to eat something with those ingredients, to just take the Excedrin Migraine ahead of time and she's set!!

If you are female: then hormones and stress can cause them. muscle stretching exercises, as well as avoidance of stress can help with the muscle tension at the base of the neck. The hormones can be regulated by medication.

If they are for sure diagnosed as migranes there are multiple medications called the Triptan class to help relieve those kind of headaches. There are pills you take every day to help with the headaches, pills to take when you feel a migraine is coming on, pills to take once you have a migraine, or a nasal spray when you feel one coming on. These medications are not without side effects, so make sure your doctor has diagnosed you as a migraine sufferer.

Lastly, if your headaches are extremely frequent, wake you up at night, or are getting worse. Please see your doctor soon, and perhaps get an MRI of the brain to make sure they are in fact migraines from an unknown cause.

I get migraines, if you take exedrin early when you first show signs of getting one it can help an amazing amount. You can also try laying in the dark with ice on your head, it doesn't help me but I know people who swear by it. If none of these are helping and you are getting true migraines they have medications your doctor can prescribe that will help. Some are things you take everyday and some just when you get a migraine. I use imitrex when exedrin doesn't work, they have it different forms, nasal sprays, melts under your tongue, ect to help it get into your system quickly.

If you consume a lot of caffine... quit
If you eat too much salt... cut back
If its none of the above...

My ex's Dad went through many courses of treatment and one day while giving a lecture at a local university he started babbling and then collapsed... his corrattid artery was clogged 95%-99% and he wasnt getting blood flow to his brain... they did a bypass and cleared out the artery and he hasn't had a headache since.

Are you getting enough sleep?... Are you constantly tired? Confused? Forgetful? Faling tests? As well as headaches?

It may be that simple....you are not getting enough sleep. Try sleeping 8 - 9 hours a day before trying ANY medications!

If medication does not work, try a really good foot massage--really. My wife bought me an electric back massager (it has a handle and two vibrating heated balls on the end) that she uses to massage my feet. It is hard to get used to at first but I recommend you give it a try.

Good luck!
