Giant whitefly is probably the culprit. Use Neem--these pests are very damaging and won't go away until a significant frost.

Remove all debris from around the base of the plant & throw in trash, not compost. If you decide to repot, clean the pot with bleach & rinse it thoroughly before reusing. Throw soil away in a sealed plastic bag.

Here's a picture of the evil whitefly:

If you have a sprayer attachment for your garden hose, try spraying the leaves thoroughly with plain water every day. Sometimes mixing a little bit of soap (Ivory) and spraying the leaves will help. If none of those work and you feel you must resort to chemicals, try to catch some of the critters in a jar and take it to a reputable plant nursery. They can tell you what to do.

Aphids? They are kind of powdery white .. and apparently go if you spray soapy water on them (washing up liquid in water) or else you can make up a spray with garlic in the water. If they're aphids there will probably be a lot of little black ants hanging around the neighbouring leaves and stems! or maybe they ARE spiders?

I had similar stuff on mine, some one said to mix up a mild soap and water combo and spray the leaves with it. Otherwise, someone else suggested Safari (like a pesticide or something) GL

Insecticidal soap is great for almost any kind of critters on your plants. It's available at any garden center and is non-toxic.
