Have had seborrhic eczema a couple times with itching and hair loss. Disappeared in about 3 weeks with tar shampoos, for several years, then returned. Now, just have the itching. Am seeing a dermatologist. Have used prescription shampoos for scalp fungus and/or bacteria. Have been using tar shampoos alternately with gentle, hypoallergenic shampoos. Have run out of ideas. Any ideas? Will be grateful for help.

Your scalp is probably sensitive to external factors (air pollution etc), so you should use a shampoo made for sensitive scalps. You might also have dandruff problems, so a good anti-dandruff for sensitive scalp shampoo (preferably with menthol extract) would do you good, I think.

There's an over the counter anti-itch lotion for eczema called Sarna. It's non-greasy so you should be able to use it on your scalp. If you can't find it on the shelf you can ask your pharmacist to order it for you.My dermatologist recommended it to me and it works like a dream! Hope this helps, and good luck!
