A good question.

I think that Hitler thought that he was doing great things for Germany, and I also think that he felt loved by many people. And in a way yes I think that in the beginning he Probably felt like he was chosen by some higher power to do the things he did, but towards the end... I don't think that he believed that any more. People don't commit suicide for being a good person. Then again look at terrorist bombers? May be that they do.

You know this is a very good question.
As a non-psychologist but someone who know pretty well human nature, I would say that he did not think he was a good person for these basic, unsubstantiated reasons: He knew his own hatred for the Jewish people and thus tried to obliterate them. And not only the Jews but other minorities (Gypsies, for one) bringing the estimated total of some nine or 10-million lives who came within his sphere of influence. That's a lot of people killed!

And then his want to eventually take over the world?

Don't you think he reflected on his decisions at some point or another? Hitler was an Austrian who unfortunately suckered in the German people.

He did, and was convinced he was God's spokesman for purifying the earth for the,"Master Race". What is sad is the man did have a few good qualities. He loved children and dogs, and did do some social reformation in Germany before the war started (new roads, lowered unemployment). Unfortunately, his anti-Semitism, along with his ego, led to the most barbaric genocide of more then 6.5 million Jews, which only represents about half of the number of people who died in his concentration camps. Ironically, it was his ego that led to his downfall. His greedy desire to attack Russia, against the recommendation of his military advisers, was what killed Germany in the war. Had Hitler waited and first overtaken the other nearby European countries that were ripe for the pickings, he would have been a much stronger force when attacking the Kremlin, and history may have been different. Fortunately, we don't know, and have the right to speculate on what may have been.

Hitler probably thought he was a great leader of a new movement. He cast himself as a brilliant man, one who held the answers to solving German's economic woes. But as many self-appointed saviors of some country, Hitler could not have been more wrong. No, I think he indeed thought he was right, even a brilliant leader. But he was self-deceived and arrogant, and his conceit caused him to ignore his advisers. And that cost him the war. Thank goodness for that! He is an example of the most evil of all types, the ones who think they are brilliant saviors of some country.

Hitler seems kind of like a narcissist, and I don't think that narcissists (people who love themselves) can really think they're bad. Many, many people participated in what Hitler was doing and knew about it, and I don't think they all hated themselves. I think they thought about it in a very skewed way, like they actually were helping Germany.

I believe he was following an ideal, that of promoting the pure arian race, and when someone is following an ideal they tend to think they are doing the right thing and the forces of good are on their side. So, I guess I would say he thought he was a good person.

Yes. If there is one thing human beings are good at, its justifying their evil.

Those who slaughtered the native americans, conducted the spanish inquisition, and committed the attacks of 9-11 thought they were the good guys too.
