Yes it's real. The Earth is warming. What is disputed is not that the Earth is warming, but the cause of the warming. Some say that human beings are to blame for the change in the climate but other say that it's probably a naturally occurring phenomenon and that we do not yet know the Earth cyclical climate change enough to blame on human factors.

But bottom line is... yes the Earth is warming up.

Yes, global warming has been scientifically shown to be real.

The important related question is what percentage of that increase comes from humans? Obviously some percentage does come from humans but it is difficult to determine exactly how much. There is so much hype that gets in the way too.

My guess is that humans are contributing enough to global warming that humans will have to take some actions to reduce the negative effects, otherwise suffer the consequence.

What the consequence is probably is a mix of reality and hype. I am skeptical about New York being flooded and crazy stuff like that.

The main thing is to not get politically involved as politicians on both sides of the issue are not exactly trustworthy people. Like the issue with CFCs and the depletion of the Ozone over Antartica, this is a problem best left to the scientists, who can then tell the politicians what to do, and rain on their parade if they don't do their jobs right.

Global warming is a phenomenn which continously occurs because of the use of Greenhouse Gases like (Carbon Dioxide, Freon Gases etc.).
Our mother earth's temp has risen to over 1 degree Fahrenheit in the last century. This is the global temperature with the effect varying drastically all over the earth.
Naturally, the earth gets a lot of heat from Sun, which is then reflected back. But the Greenhouse Gases (like the ones mentioned above) stop the heat to go out of earth's atmosphere. This causes the temperature to increase drastically.
It has also caused a lot of awareness among people to reduce the use of contents that emit these kinds of gases. The effect of these gases could make the iceberg's melt (because of changes in temp.) and thus the sea level could risen up then the current level, which will in turn harm the people living nearby.
I have listed only a few of the reasons and effects of the global warning. Please visit the following links for more information.

You are kidding yourself if you allow yourself to believe otherwise. The facts are hard, indesputable and conclusive.

We must stop increasing the carbon load we we exert on the atmopsphere. The conclusion that the atmosphere is warming and that glaciers are melting at geologically unprecedented rates is undesputed among scientists.

If you are under 30 it is almost a fore gone conclusion that if we do not radically slow the amount of CO2 and other gases we emit into the atmosphere that you will, in your lifetime live to see the northern polar (Artic) icecap cease to exist in the summer.

This means that many cities and some countries will be under water.

Florida will be gone.

And it will be so hot in the summer in the plains states of the USA that we will not be able to sustain the agricultural productivity the world depends on. Many will starve.

I could go on and it gets worse.

Don't let any politcal ostriches or their oil company paid for masters tell you otherwise. Us scientists know we've seen it coming for 25 years.

GLOBAL WARMNG IS REAL.

GLOBAL WARMNG IS REAL.

Us scientists know.........

Global warming is real and usually precedes an ice age. The climate is cyclic. There is no scientific consensus on what is causing this cycle to begin now, but due to the nature of climate, it will occur. At this point, we can suspect that there will be some interesting changes, but some of them will be beneficial to some and detrimental to others. It'll depend on where you live. One thing is for sure: Climate is constantly changing and will occupy our interest for some time. Another reasonably sure thing: Not a thing we can do about it. We are a gnat on the elephants back! One good volcanic eruption spews more pollutants in the air the the entire human race has ever produced. We are truly insignificant.

Here's the collective report from a wildlife/wildlands graduate.

The sun's activity is higher than normal - all planets are warming;

Last 10 yrs the worlds glaciers & icecaps have shrunk ~33%;
That reflects less light, that gets absorbed by land & water;

Last 50 yrs the earth's magnetic field has weakened ~15%, letting in more radiation (microwave, ultraviolet, gamma, etc);
Along with that is the shifting of the magnetic north pole - tilting the earth physically in the opposite direction;

We have enough greenhouse gasses to last 16 yrs, but because of industrial chemicals, warming is happening much faster than natural;

Cold ice water running into the ocean has begun changing its convection currents, & the ecosystems/agriculture that depend on them (climate shift) - and the colder ocean gives less evaporation needed as rain inland... fueling drought;

Mans' machines & electronics are all generating MORE HEAT!

To counter some, polar shift increases volcanic activity... whos smoke blocks out some sun, but won't help ecosystems/agriculture.

The truth is we just dont know. We havent kept records long enough but we know the planet does go through severe climate changes seemingly out of nowhere, but we DO know that manyof the harsh gases that inudstrialized cities and machines give off ARE the same kind of gases that seem to corelate with massive climate change.

That being said, can we be sure? no. then again, if youre 10% sure that you might be robbed, would you lock the door?

The act is the things that the average person would have to do to help prevent massive climate change IF its happening are so minute that it's morally irresponsible not to try. Conservatio is not a dirty word. All it means is dont use more than you need to JUST BECAUSE you can.

Gobal Warming is a natural process that we aren't helping with. The planet naturally changes temperature in a cycle to help maintain itself(ie. the last Ice age). With us putting polutants into the atmosphere we are contributing to the global warming condition. Now is it a Crisis like some treehuggers are worried about no.

Some of what "The Day after Tomarrow" said was true if the Ice caps melt then it dilutes the amount of salt in the oceans which makes it harder to keep them warm, and brudda our oceans is what keep this bouncing ball livable!!!!

Yes. The question is really how much of it is caused by man. Keep in mind that the earths temperature has increased substantially since the last Ice Age. What you call "global warming" is a spike in the rate of increase over the last century or so.

Question: If man caused global warming, then who caused the ice ages?

Global warming is a fact. There is no debate over whether the earth is warming. The question is what is causing it.

CNN has a CNN presents on it and also the Discovery Channel is coming out with a new special on it hosted by Dan Rather.
