My favourite Wilbur smith book is 'River God' its is bloody amazin, the only book i've read where I was gripped on this first page. (Its a fictional story about ancient Egypt when it was the greatest civilisation on earth, it is so awesome)

My fave non wilbur smith book is 'The ram of Sweetriver' by Colin Dann. (its a mature kids book about sheep and the hardships of living in a wild flock, lol, its really engaging. Perhaps a bit like watership down, with sheep, although haven't read watership down.)

ADD: seventh scroll is set in modern times and about finding the pharohs tomb. In my view Warlock wasn't so great.

I also loved Birds of prey and have recently bought its sequels - monsoon and blue horizon which should keep me busy!

I loved the W Smith novel where the two brothers were rugby players but were split up early in their lives. They met again at the rugby cup final -cant remember the name though.

Best other book I've read lately was The D'Avinci Code. Dan Browns other books are worth a read too.

For another book about ancient cultures try The Tribe - it is also an older kids book - very well written.

Totally agree with you River God is one of the best books I've ever read - by any author. Can't wait to start reading Warlock but I want to read the Seventh Scroll first once I find it somewhere. Not sure about non-W.S. novel because theres just so many.

'EYE OF THE TIGER' by Wilbur is my favourite.
Its set in the Indian Ocean and its about a man with a shady past
hiring out his fishing boat to tourists.
The wrong type of people turn up and want to use his boat to dive for something, no questions asked!
As the adventure unfolds both above and below the surface, his history starts to catch up with him!!
