I always wondered this. Does your race/nationality/ethnicity(whatever you want to call it) affect your taste in the opposite sex (or, in some people's cases, the same sex)? I'm half white (Irish, Scottish, German, Polish, Lithuanian) and half Puerto Rican. I always found myself attracted to whites or Latin Americans. Not really any Semitics, Africans, Asians, etc. I'm not racist in any way. My father's a civil rights lawyer, so many of his clients aren't white. So is my taste based on where my ancestors came from?

I've also been told it might be because of where I grew up. I grew up around a very white/hispanic environment, and I've noticed that when people of certain races grow up in places without too many of their own kind, they seem to become attracted to people of other races.

So is it mere coincidence that many people I know and I are like this? Is it because of where we come from? Or is it because of where we grew up? Maybe somethining else?

Thanks,
Gerard

Yep!
You are the sum of your experiences. " You don't know better ". You find life is more peaceful for you if you follow the rules of you environment. When it rains go indoors and you'll be safe and dry, not get sick and die. Soon it's just second nature and no conscious thought involved. You date non Whites and people stare and your service is not what your use to. The line always moves slower when your with your non-white friends, and they get your orders wrong. Trying to get the best out of life you stay away from those situations.

No I come from a mix back to Black , Irish, Cherokee, and Jewish and I grow up in a Germen town and there were mostly white people I was around but i have never went with a white guy so I think it's just what you like because right now my boyfriend is PuertoRican and I'm attracted to more of a person's personality not the color mean yes I do find my self going out with more Black men and Latin Americans but I would go out with another color but no I don't think it's because where you grew up at or with and who you grew up with and it's not your race it's just what you like.

I think people traditionally tend to like their "own kind", so to speak but that has certainly never been the case with me. I'm primarily of Irish descent but aside from my high school sweetheart (also Irish), I've never been with my own kind, with respect to dating and relationships. After she and I broke up, I was once engaged to a Sicilian girl but later married twice, first to a Peruvian, then to a Salvadoran.
So, other than one Greek, one Iranian, two Jews, three blacks, two Koreans, one Sri Lankan and about a half-dozen Filipinas, I've exclusively dated Hispanic females.(Also, in my case, being Catholic is important.)
I'm now in my fifties and have never, in my entire adult life, dated an "Anglo" female. It's primarily a looks thing with me. Just a matter of personal choice.

Interestingly I'm not that attracted to women from my own country (Ireland). I like French, Italian mediterranian types, slavic women are so beautiful, difference is a turn on for me. I find mixed race light skinned black girls especially attractive

.. ahh

I saw a stunning Indian/Pakistani girl today

you will either be attracted to races similar to your surroundings because it makes you feel more comfortable, or you will have a thing for people of opposite races because you are adventurous and want to experience different things, people, cultures. these days, there are fetishes for minority races, like latino, black, indian, oriental, etc. personally i think this is a racist. i don't see anything wrong with anyone being with anyone else regardless of their nationality or skin tone, but i think its sick to turn it into a fetish. it just turns those people into sex objects. i guess its sexist as well.

It depends on the person i myself tend to be only attracted to those men that are black american and I am not racist. Its not that I think that men of another race are ugly or not up to standards I just prefer to be with someone that is black american i am more turned on by a black american male. There is nothing wrong!!!!!!!

No, I believe its just strictly your preference. I am of a multi racial backgoround and grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood until I was an adult and moved to a more multi racial area. I love men of any race if they are attractive to me but, their are men of diffrent races I just don't find attractive. Not saying that I may not find one that is attractive someday.

Yes because studies show that people tend to find things in other people attractive that other family members in their houshold or around them have

No. I treat people on a case-by-case basis and never believe that one person is reflective of that entire culture.

No, only history affects the way I look at people and also how they act.
