No, that would kill it. The shell is actually part of the skeletal structure, and removing it would expose the vital organs and cause massive hemorrhaging.

Removing the shell of the turtle would cause immediate death, since it's spine is located along the crest of the shell. Its would be similar the attaching a tow chain to your tailbone or neck vertebrae, and having a truck pull it while you are chained to a tree or something. You'd die, instataneously.

only if your intent is to kill the poor turtle in the most cruel, disgusting and horrid way possible!!!!! the shell is part of the turtles body, and they only become empty after the turtle has been dead and the body decomposed inside, much like a skeleton.
