They are both good, and for optimum health use both. The fish oil is a more direct way to get the DHA , the flax seed has to be processed in your body first to get converted to the good stuff.
Some theorize that some people don't have the necessary enzymes to complete the entire process for the flax seed to give them the benefits from it. So, if the flax isn't working for you, then maybe try the fish oil.
I think it is good for your body to go through the process and make what you need on its own, so I vote for the flax. But just incase I also add some fish oil in there too.
Just don't forget, that if you take fish oil, make sure you are also taking some antioxidants with it, like vitamin E. You need to take some when you use fish oil. But don't over do it on the E because it is a fat soluble vitamin and you can overdose on it. You will not pee out the extra you take like you do with vitamin C which is a water soluble vitamin. The Vitamin E will stay in your fat cells.

Well, I personally use flaxseed oil, considering the mercury contamination in fish oil. But nowadays the distillation process is able to remove the contaminant. Still I'm not really convinced the integrity and potency of what the fish oil companies claim, so I stick with flaxseed oil instead. It's all natural and I feel safe knowing what exactly I'm taking.

I prefer flaxseed oil. Too much fish oil makes all the cats in the neighborhood follow me everywhere.
They're both equally good for you...my flaxseed oil pills are smaller then the fish oil ones, thus, easier to swallow, that's why I go with those.

Fish Oil, but it's best to eat the fish, the omega fatty acids you're looking for are metabolized differently based on what else is being digested at the given time (basis for the glycemic index, perhaps you've heard of it). To get the greatest benefit, eat fish (tuna, salmon, whatever) 2 or 3 times a week.

Organic Flax Seed Oil (and the seeds YUM)
They don't kill poor fishies, they're safer for the Earth, and THEY're Healthyer b/c they don't have pollutents like fish or Mercuery (if you get Organic). Fish FEEL PAIN, eat a plant... save our oceans / rivers and your health
;-)
You can also use Flax Seeds as an Egg replacer in recipies, you can't do that with Fish or Fish oil LOL! ! !

I think both are good. If you're vegetarian, you'd use the flaxseed oil. I personally have taken both.

I've tried both, and maybe it is just me and my weird body and metabolism, but I've found the fish-oil Omega-3s to work better with me for what I take the stuff for....mainly mood control.
So yeah, in my humble experience, I'd say the fish-oils would work better for someone trying to promote more *neurological* health than anything, though you can't neglect your heart or bodily joints either.....
Just my two cents, don't mind me, your mileage may vary. :)
