It appears that way, the way events are unfolding in the Middle East. Some historians consider the Cold War to be World War 3, and that we are talking about a future World War 4.

I don't think so the only reason the last two wars were world wars was because of the British empire, so if the British empire still existed mabye the 2nd gulf war would have become a world war, with Australia, Canada India etc. I don't reckon it will ahppen again.

The escalation, the sparks in Iran and NoKor, the hezbela, here's my take:

I'd say it already started...the pre-lude was 9/11 attack on America. Act I was the US invasion of Iraq.

Act II will be a middle east conflagaration around Israel,Palestine,Syria,Iran axis.

Act III - while US is busy defending Israel, North Korea will take the opportunity to invade the South and China will takeover Taiwan...leading to nuclear showdown similar to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Act IV - will be the breakdown of the "system", loss in confidence of US economy, long gas lines at the pump, Constitutional rights abolished

Act V - the end...who knows how it will end, but Einstein said World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones....

I hope so. It should be the developed nations of the World uniting to seize the resources of the Third World, especially OPEC's oil, which is draining our economies and financing terrorism:

China take Indonesia's oil, Russia Iran's, etc.

No. understand that this would be a topic count number it is often explored in technology Fiction Literature. Many have self assurance that the top results of such could be "Mutual certain Destruction" being that the U. S. regardless of being the worlds sole superpower, isn't the only u . s . with obtainable Nuclear armament to apply in the form of warfare. this suggests that the full worldwide could be destroyed, no longer in straightforward terms one u . s . or yet another. "If worldwide warfare III is fought with nuclear weapons, the subsequent would be fought with bows and arrows"

It's already started I think.

I don't think we'll all be nuked but I think history will look upon 'the war against terror' as WW3.
