Do not do it!!! I would never ever recommend that a husband and wife work together. Please find your own careers. Husband/wife can help each other out sometime, but working together will destroy your loving relationship. Believe me.

If the two of you get along and can WORK together ... it would be a fine idea. However, I caution that even if you have a good marriage, sometimes working with your mate can aggravate things and increase the amount of stress between you. Sometimes good marriages include time away from each other, like working at different places. Think about it and discuss how the two of you would resolve problems together, such as:
1. Financial - restaurants run on a very narrow margin and it is
very difficult to survive beyond the first year;
2. Personnel - if you hire additional staff, who would you hire?
3. Hours of operation - You want to avoid becoming all work, no
play ... and have no time for one another - that is a trap that
couples in business often get into; and
4. Liquor license - while having a liquor license can substantially
increase your revenues, it can also increase your headaches
as well. The two of you would need to be licensed for serving
liquor and would pre-plan how you would deal with common
situations, such as a customer who is getting intoxicated.

Yes. But never take your work home! You have to be able to split the two. When you are work you are both professional toward each other, no matter what happens at work, stays at work.

If you can't split the work from the home, it won't work. It's very stressful building a business together and being married.

A prime example....if she does something that really makes you mad at work, you reprimand her, she gets angry comes home and doesn't talk to you....or vice versa.

Doing both can be very stressful, but if you can SEPERATE the two, you will do just fine. Once you open that door to your home you should be the man who fell in love with her and the woman who fell in love with you.......

Good Luck!

My mom and dad work together, and it brought them closer! But, they didn't work side by side like you two would have too.

I think that it would be a good idea, because you could truely understand what eachothers work day was like, come home and completely talk about something else and relax.
Plus, you know how each other ticks and who better to make big buisness decisions with? :)
Best of luck if you are really gonna try it.

My huband and I ran a bicycle shop together for 34 years. i ran the front--retail- and he ran the repair shop. ALthough we often ask each others advice, each had the final say in our area. So i would suggest you divide your resondsibilitys before you start. I think you have to get along well as a couple to work together, you are going to be together almost 24/7.

Sure..I can't think of anyone I'd rather work with than my husband. But I know we'd have to keep a work relationship and keep any disagreements at home and not in the work place. That makes other employees and your customers uncomfortable.

Do you already work well together with the housework and financial matters? If yes, then you would do well running a business together.

Unethical. Against code of ethics. People who can influence each other in business should not be related or dating.

No, not if you want to stay married. Need to have some time apart. Unless every thought between you is identical.
