A thesis should be theory driven. Is there a nutritional issue suggested by a particular theory in the field? I don't mean a hypothesis. There is a currently dominant theory about human metabolism of food, for example. However, under that theory there are unsettled questions about the metabolic response to different proportions of fat, protien, and carbs in diet; and/or the amount of vitamin and mineral supplement needed for specifric individual differences; etc. Pick an unsettled question you find interesting. Then do some reading so that you can make a plausible hypothesis regarding "if this is done for this kind of individual, under these conditions, then this measurable outcome will occur." Then design a controled experiment to gather data. My biggest suggestion is to pick an issue where people do not have to return for multiple treatments or for longitudinal data collection. If you can provide a treatment and observe the result in the same visit by the participant, it will simplify your life greatly.

one that many people still do not believe. This is the dangers associated with aspartame and the other sweeteners on the market. Also the same for MSG (mono-sodium glutamate).

The drink manufactures and the food providers are loading their products with this stuff. Over 30% of the N. American population alone is allergic to added MSG yet companies like Lipton, Campbell's, and many more use this product, and fast food outlets including Kentucky Fried Chicken, Churches and others.

Look at the sites listed below for more information. Good luck on your thesis. Oh, you might also look at fluoride as well here is one site: http://www.holisticmed.com/fluoride/

I would love to read a thesis on the affect that fad diets have on Americans and what role they play regarding the economic impact on the food industry. They seem to pop up everyday..something new constantly and all you hear about in the media are new diet plans.

You should do your thesis on something that interests you. How about the effect of a the modern low fibre diet on obesity, Or the effect of repetitive "yo-yo dieting" on the body, as poorly educated people take on the latest popular diet. Or something involving the meditteranean diet (something i'm interested in myself).

How about giving an answer to this:

That stuff seems to fly in the face of everything nutritionists say these days. He may be wrong about some things, but I bet he is right about quite a few.
