You say that the radiator "did leak, but not anymore". How did you fix it? Did you use that stop leak stuff in a can, did you have it professionally repaired and the system flushed, or did you replace it with a used radiator?

If you used stop leak, or put in a used radiator, and didn't flush the system, my best guess would be either your thermostat is stuck closed (or mostly closed) from gunk or crud. Replace the thermostat, flush the system, and if you used stop leak to fix the radiator leak, have the radiator fixed or replaced. The stop leak stuff is bad for thermostats and water pumps and just prolongs the inevitable.

Also, if you have recently replaced the thermostat, it could be installed backwards.

Just a few things to check out. Hope this helped.

When the motor is cool open the radiator cap, make sure the system is full of coolant then start the engine and watch for the coolant to circulate when the engine warms up. If there is no circulation then it's a stuck thermastat. If it flows then check the fan clutch. If that's good then suspect a clogged radiator. It is possible but not likely a faulty waterpump. It everything else checks ok then you may have a bad head gasket or a blockage in the heads coolant passage ways.

Had the same issue on my beretta. Check the exhaust when it runs...if its milky white smoke....you blew a head gasket. Also your temperature gauge may be stuck....but that wouldnt be the issue. Make sure you have all your fluids like winshield cleaner because it is also used as a coolent for the engine.

You may have even blown the engine block....it could be a number of things....but if its over heating WITHOUT white milky smoke......don't drive it....because you will eventually end up with a broken head gasket....and that is a pain in the A** to deal with.

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck closed. Start it up and feel the upper radiator hose to see if it gets hot. If it does not then your thermostat is stuck. Or you could just replace it anyway, it is cheap and not a lot of trouble.
