Depends on what you like doing. Local past-time is shopping and dining (we have the highest per-capita number of malls and restaurants).
If you crave cultural entertainment, try the Museum of Modern Art, Natural History Museum, Bayou Bend or the Menil Collection.
For watersports go to Clear Lake, Moody Gardens or Galveston. They have opened a Schlitterbahn (water park) in Galveston. Go hang out at the beach.
If you are a geek...go to NASA.
Go Downtown, Richmond, Montrose or Rice Village for bars and clubs.
Go to the Symphony, the Ballet, the Theater Under The Stars.
Go running, cycling, picnicing in Memorial, Hermann or Hershey Park.
Go to Barnes and Noble and read a good book.
Seek and you shall find.

There's tons of things, I'll try to name a few off the top of my head. There's the museum district with lots of different museums for everyones taste. There's the space center, Galveston is a nice day trip (I reccommend Apfell beach) Splashtown, zoo, chinatown. It totally depends on the kind of things you like to do and who you are doing them with.
