All you need is to make sure your laptop supports wireless. Its a built in card that comes standard in most new laptops now. If you don't get one with the wireless built in you can buy a wireless notebook card. You should be ok with Wireless G since its backwards compatible with B. It works with B and G. If you get a Wireless B notebook card it will only work with B so I recommend that you get G. The college should have specs on the type of laptop you should get with all the info you need. Get in touch with someone at the college, make sure you get everything you need not only the wireless portion but software and other stuff too.

I believe that almost all new laptops at this time have wireless access built in. However, when purchasing the computer make sure to ask or check the specs of the laptop. You should be able to determine from that if the wireless access is built in.

I need to know WHO built the laptop. If it has wireless already in it then just flick the switch on the front of your lap top to on. It should say WLAN which stands for wireless local area network. If there is no swich then get a new laptop with wireless integrated on it already. ask the person who you bought the laptop from for details.

most laptops these days have built in wifi cards, that allow wireless connection.
when buying the laptop it will have something that says 801.b/g etc, if it has this it means it has built in wireless, or if it doesnt can buy a usb dongle adapter that costs about $20 or a PCMCIA card that will be able $40.

Almost all laptops sold today are wireless ready. Make sure yours is. Your college will provide you with info for connecting to their wireless networks - its dead easy.
