Can you tell me how painful it is to have a tattoo and where on the body is yours

The one on my lower back killed - it is a tribal and it is wide, so it was very painful especially the outer edges. Like everyone else said on here, you feel a bunch of little needles scraping at you non-stop, and your adrenalin is pumping, when you are done, you break out in a cold sweat and the pain is aweful. It is also a lot of maintenance afterwards.
You need to give it a lot of thoughts though, once it is there, it is there forever ! ( it is more expensive to laser off a tattool than to get one)

i guess it depends on the location on your body and your tolerance to pain. i have a rather detailed tattoo on my hip bone. it kinda hurt because it was by the bone and the layer of skin is pretty thin. however, i was laying down, which makes the pain easier to bear, and the artist would stop any time i needed. on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst pain, it was only about a 4 or 5 in my opinion.

hey, anywhere that is close to bone will be very painfull. The more fat (muscle too i guess) protecting your bone the more tolerable it is. Also if you are going to get a tattoo in a senstive place (like on top of your foot) then it will also be pretty apinfull. It also depends on the size. The bigger the piece the less pain you feel because your body numbs itself after a while.

They don't hurt, just a major irritation. Especially during the first minute or two, because you are not sure what to expect. People can describe all they want, but unless you've actually experienced it you will never know. If you hurt easily, If you have a low threshold, don't get tats. If a cat scratching you brings tears to your eyes, you will probably be miserable.
Got my first one on my shoulder.

The fleshier the area, the more it stings, if you know the person that is doing the tat, and you are confident in their work, then relax and enjoy the pain...it really is not that bad if you get someone that knows what they are doing!!! i have one on my right front area above the boob and one on my left back shoulder. the boob flesh was the worst yet not unbearable!!! try bringing in a rubber ball, like a racquetball, to squeeze if it gets too bad, the artist gave me one and it works wonders, to divert the attention away from the pain.

It is really not that painful. I have 4 tattoos. One on my lower back across my spine. One on my shoulder blade. And 2 one my ankles. It really doesn't hurt. In fact they are addicting.

The big one on my back hurt the worst.
I have found that most people w/ one tattoo will tell you that it doesn't hurt! Call me a sissy, but they hurt!... They bleed... they swell up...
Everyone takes pain differently...
I have put my own stitches in a cut on my leg and one on my arm... I have a pretty good thresh hold for pain, and I still think they hurt!

The best way I would describe it is like a needle in your skin scraping around consistantly. Then when it;s time for the color your so numb you cant feel anything after that. I have 3 one is a fairy on a flower naked on my left shoulder blade,second one is a panthers head and claws on my right calf and the third one is betty boop she's on my chest.

its not so bad in certain places. now, i have one on my foot, where people think it hurts, but it really doesnt.
i have one on my neck too, and that hurt just a little because of the bone. i have two on each ear, too, and those didnt hurt at all. i was laughing the whole time, cause they tickled.
so it really does depend where it is...bones are the worst, such as ribs, hips, ankles, wrists...and i hear stomach tattoos hurt too beacuse the skin is so thin...

I AHVE MY FIRST ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY NECK AND THE PAIN DEPENDS ON HOW WELL YOU CAN TAKE PAIN YOU FEEL SOMETHING LIKE A NEEDLE POINT NOT TO SHARP THOUGH AND IT FEELS LIKE THEY ARE DRAWING ON YOU THE FIRST TIME THEY TOUCHED ME IT HURT BUT AFTER TWO MINUTES IT WAS NOTHING YOU HAVE TO BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU SO THEY CAN TELL YOU WHAT IS GOING ON LIKE MY SISTER KEEP TELLING ME OH IT IS HOT IT LOOKS NICE AND SO ONE AND IT KINDA KEEP MY MIND OFF OF IT, i HAVE MY KIDS DADDY NAME WITH A HEART AROUND IT THAT IS COLOR IN RED, IT IS NICE AND i WAS ADDICTED AFTER THE FIRST ONE NOW i HAVE 4 IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR. dON'T GO IN THERE DRUCK OR HIGH JUST REG.
