sprinkle baking soda all over the inside of the purse, and set it open in the sun for a few hours. the heat brings out the smell and the baking soda soaks it up. Been there, done that, and with a coach purse and heineken!

Cleaning leather with anything can alter the color and appearance.

Your best bet, seriously is to take the bag to a professional leather cleaner and have them look at it, because it's a coach bag and it would be a shame to ruin it if it can be saved.

If it were just any old purse, I'd say saddle soap and leather conditioner...but it's not, so go to a pro.

Take the purse to a dry cleaner and ask what they recommend, since most dry cleaners offer both leather and non-washable fabric treatment.

other than taking it to the cleaners, if it has a lining, you can carefully rinse the lining, let it airdry & spray it with febreze.
