Elaine Bernard, her ex-husband Rene Bernard and her sister Carol Ann Dela Torre then agreed to delay their trial to April 17 to give their lawyers time to prepare a defense. The indictment charged Elaine Bernard with embezzlement and grand theft of $150,000 or more;
