I have been suffering from swollen lymph nodes in my neck on and off for over 6 months now. This afternoon I have developed a large swelling on the right side of my neck - it hurts to talk, swallow or move my neck. I can feel it pressing on my wind pipe but i can breathe ok. Can anyone give me any advise as there are no docs at the weekend.

Yes. Go to your local emergency room, because if the swelling has developed that fast, it could expand more and completely block off your airway. You could have a disease that requires hospitalization and treatment, and you may need surgery to remove the lump entirely. They can't refuse you treatment under the law, whether or not you can pay for it, and if you need transportation, call an ambulance or a taxi. Don't put it off until Monday, please - go to the emergency room now.

West Nile! Ahhhhh. Just kidding.

Try gently massaging the swollen node. drink water and put warm washcloths on it just to ease the discomfort. Drink warm soup and rest.

Or do what the first answer suggests. that is more logical.
