I know this is an ignorant question but I just read that the queen of england has now moved to the Windsor castle and it had over 600 rooms and 1000 servants. How do the royal families sustain their extravagant living? I presume they own alot of land etc..what if their fortune runs out? how does it work?

The leeching Royal Family are paid for by every single man woman and child in the UK. In this day and age the "monarchy" cannot be justified - the ***** Liz the second is only the minor figurehead of this country - come the revolution the whole lot should be put against a wall and shot. I'm a Catholic so very anti-royalist.

Sorry I know your question has already been adequately answered by previous replies, but:-
We uk-rians or British as we are more commonly known to anybody but 'Mad john', pay taxes to support the royals. Also they own huge tracts of our green and pleasant, which they rent out to us, at a premium.
Contrary to previous comment, we do not have bears in Britain, whose bums to stick our heads up, that privelege is bestowed on some, and I mean some, Americans who profess to know British history.
The Royal families sole purpose is to promote foreign investment and tourism and therefore to improve our economy and world standing. Unfortunately they do not always live up to this high expectation, so our money is sadly wasted, as intelligent comment would be on aforesaid contributor.

The English are pretty devoted to the monarchy. I suspect they receive huge tax cuts and numerous other royals only benefits.

Plus, they are royalty. Even if they ran completely out of money. They could get everything for free and just ask for more money from the government whenever they feel like it.

Yes, unfortunately they cannot sustain their wealth themselves so therefore we (the common people) do that for them.

I don't think I'm exactly anti royalty as I think her majesty and at least a few members of the royal family do the best for their country with the position they were born into.

I do however think that many routines etc are outdated and don't necessarily apply today.

The British government spends 2-3 BILLION a year on the Royal Family!
But it is part of their national pride and we should respect that!

Taxpayers support them.I'm Irish & have been living in the UK for many years.I'm not what you would call pro-Royal,but the alternative is horrendous.Could you imagine a President Blair?I think it's better the devil you know,so keep the Monarchy.
