First, it's not possible to love someone "too much." Just by definition if one thinks it's too much it's probably not love, but lust or some form of control. Parents who tell their children "no" usually do so for their best interest or what they believe to be in the child's best interest. Sometimes parents have to say "no" because they are unable to give the child what they want (e.g. remarry a divorced parent, etc.) It has nothing to do with how much they love or hate them though.

Overall, children and teenagers want parents who are concerned about their well-being but not so strict that one is completely smothered, sheltered and stifled in self-growth.

Being a parent is very hard, especially have to distinguish from what you should really shelter your kids from and from what they need to learn on their own. My kids are still young and every day I have to decide what to let them and not let them do on their own. It gets harder as kids get older because there are things teens can do that might really screw upo their life that as a parent you want to protect them from. My parents let me learn a lot on my own and I got lucky really and didnt end up with a bad life but a lot of the things I did could have really ruined my life. Your parents dont hate you, just remember that it is as hard on them as it is on you.

When I tell my child no, I always tell her why I'm telliing her no. And I can't in my wildest imagination ever see how any parent could hate their child.

parents have already made that mistake

kids do not realise that their parents have already done what their kids want to do and more, and can see problems arising from it
