Yes. I seem to remember they were experiencing some serious writer's block at the time and the song just came out (according to a VH1 show I watched).

yes. apparently as someone said before johnny reznik told vh1 that he was having some serious writing block but they asked to write a song for the movie and during an advanced screening he came up wih iris
