First thing you want to do is go to http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1323.html to obtain the necessary information.

Once this is done, you'll need to locate employment in an area that is inexpensive for living and which has plenty of jobs available. I would advise two areas...........the Tampa Bay area in Florida, and the Fort Myers/Naples area in Florida.

The reason I would pick Fort Myers/Naples area if you're first moving to the U.S. is this: The unemployment rate in Naples is hovering around 2%. In other words, everyone that wants a job has one, and there are so many open jobs available that companies are SCREAMING for help in Naples. The problem is that it is too expensive to actually live in Naples. But, if you move just to the south of Fort Myers, you have a short commute, and the cost of living there is quite reasonable.

Once you've established yourself in the Fort Myers/Naples area, wait about a year or two, then begin looking in the Tampa Bay area for permanent settlement.

Trust me, coming from a northern climate, you'll appreciate living down here.

Upon searching the Internet, I see that there are a lot of private businesses that would be glad to take your money to help you with this. The one below looks like the official government web site where you can do it for yourself. Best wishes.
