to get away from the smell
incidently in what way is this philosophical question?

People have been made to think that this function, though normal is rude and offensive. Personally I laugh when someone farts loudly, unless it stinks then I get kind of angry.

Some feel embarassed for the farter.
But I like to declare loudly (in the presence of the farter), "Wow! That was a gooood one!"

I grab the person who farted in a bear hug until the smell goes away.
I stroke their hair the entire time whispering, "Shhh. Shhh. It's our time now. Just enjoy the moment..."
