Wave in an Ocean, where do microcosm and macrocosm meet?
A tree inside a seed, ocean in a single drop and the mighty creator inside a human heart, those are the mysteries we have come here to experience for ourselves, may be just the magic of discovering them again, makes us go mad, as great mystics do.
Great mystics knew the secret of the world and called it a maya, Matrix or illusion, no wonder they were always smiling, just Mona Lisa did, may be she too knew the secret, Da Vinci did.

Hi, gasp, my name is Hank. The microcosm does not meet the macrocosm.
The microcosm is the really small things in our universe we cannot see. The science that explains the microcosm is called Quantum Mechanics.
The macrocosm is the observable universe, or things we can see. Einstein explains this in his Theory of Special Relativity.
Both the microcosm and the macrocosm exist together. Einstein tried for his entire career to discover a way to explain both together in one set of mathematical formulae. He was unsucessful.
But don't despair. There are new ideas emerging to explain what's going on. The two most prominent right now are: String Theory and Space Dimensional Membranes theory. I'm not certain that's the correct name for the extra dimensions theory, but it should be enough to whet your appetite.
You should check it out. You can find all the information you need at www.space.com. Don't worry about having to read mathematic formulae, as the site explains it pretty much in laymen's terms.

it's called the frame of reference.
that frame of reference could be self, it could be a single skin cell that composes the self, it could be the nation you happen to be a member of, the planet you inhabit, et cetera.
ultimately, from whatever frame of reference you settle on, micro/macrocosms extend in either direction--but they normally imply a "great" distance away from the frame of reference.
