I need help in my vegetable garden. My dad swears by miracle grow sprayed on plants (using their sprayer) every two weeks. I am hesitant to spray that on my plants due to the chemicals. Anyone know anything about this?

I did use a fertilizer that gets worked into the soil but, it doesn't get down as regularly as it should. MG may be easier...

Its just fertilizer which needs to go toward the roots not the plants. 10-10-10 is cheaper and likly as good. Be careful useing now as we head into this hot dry spell....all plants tend to want to go a bit or completely dormant under such heat stress and fertlizer will burn them.

Beware these "natural folks"....the ingredients in fertilizer are elements and despite the zealots of "organic" gardening etc, elements are elements whether derived from a laboratory or out of nature. Its just the laboratory type is purer and probably stronger. MG pellets or spray or whatever essentially provides the basic three elements found in all fertilizer...nitrogen, potasium, and phorsphorus and, as with MG a few trace elements. Leaves of plants respirate....Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. Roots of plants are where nutrients are taken such as fertilizer or "natural".
Fertilizer organic or otherwise is just the same three elements...These tree huggers would get a lot more respect if they would tell an honest story!

Miracle Grow just makes mutant veggies. They're not better, people just think they are.

There are organic and natural fertilizers that I swear by. They have them at most hardware stores and nurseries. They contain chicken "waste", so my dog sometimes tries to eat it (eew). But, all you have to do is sprinkle it on the plants and water it. The nutrients seep in. That way, you'll have totally natural veggies that are delicious. I've had nothing but great experiences going totally natural.

My fear is, if I use chemical pumped veggies, I will also run the risk of filling my body with unnecessary and potentially harmful chemicals, too.

The stuff in Miracle Grow is not harmful, same stuff you put into the ground with ground fertilizers...spray away without fear. Rinse veggies before eating. I swear by Miracle Grow also. Good luck

I use one of the slow release fertilizers. I'm not a big fan of spraying the plant, but maybe add some in to the water and water with it.

the chemecals in MG leach all the good stuff from ur soil and eventually leave it burnt. go with an all organic program and u will have healthier veggies and u wont have to replace ur soil every year.

If the package says it's okay for veggies then it's fine. I know it's great with plants and flowers.

i use it but not that often. you have to be careful not to burn your veggies and there leaves. i only use it twice a summer and find it works great. if you have tomatoes they do have a special one for that.
