*Read this article and it'll explain some things. I get eye twitches all the time, so does my mom, it's annoying as hell though.*

If “twitching” involves muscle spasms in eyelids, the condition very likely is related to your nervous system. For example, it is theorized that “eye twitches” involving these muscles can be related to emotional stress or physical eye strain—i.e., staring at a computer all day.

Eye twitching of this type usually is transitory and not considered serious. The official name for involuntary muscle twitching near the eye is called blepharospasm, which (according to Neurology published by the American Academy of Neurology) can have triggers such as irritants including smoke or bright light.

More severe forms of involuntary eyelid flutters can actually be blinding. Botulinum toxin injections (Botox) that deaden nerves and eliminate involuntary muscle spasms are considered the treatment of choice for more severe blepharospasm.

If the eye itself twitches, a much more serious problem could be an underlying condition.

it's funny what you look up sometimes. I've always wondered myself why my eye twitches sometimes....now I have an excuse to look it up.

According to the mayo clinic:
"The cause of eyelid twitching isn't known. However, it's often associated with fatigue and stress. You may be able to relieve the twitching by gently massaging the affected eyelid."

According to Eyecare source .com:
Blepharospasm or eye twitching is believed to be caused by an abnormal functioning of certain nerve areas located at the base of the brain which control the coordination of muscle movements. In the majority of people it appears without any real known cause. Frequently, the signs and symptoms of dry eye occur right before or along with the appearance of eye twitching. Some research indicates that dry eye is a trigger for blepharospasm in those people who are may develop it. Occasionally eye twitching may run in families or be side effect of certain medications.
Other common causes of blepharospasm include:
Stress
Irritation of the Cornea or Conjunctiva
Fatigue
Lack of sleep
Prolonged staring at a computer screen or television
Nervous system disorders

My Mum says:
You are low in potasium, eat a banana.

(thanks Mum)

Good luck......hey are you winking at me?....oh nevermind.

I have the same problem. Especially, if I'm stressed or tired. It will go away in a week or so (for me) if I get alot of rest. It's hard walking around with folks thinking you're winking at them, isn't it? lol Trust me, I understand. It's just involuntary muscles stress.

There is an irritation to the facial nerve which causes such a response.. If you don't care for it, it can be remedied by a simple procedure done by most chiropractors.

It sounds like a nerve is twitching. It should go away on its own.
