Do you ever read the answers to your questions and shake your head in despair for the intellectual future of this world? Also the future of humor, satire, parody and irony? Do you have a welt from slapping your forehead in disbelief?
I'm sorry, people, but when only 3 or 4 people out of 20+ understand the question, or the humor, it's rather disheartening......

Of course they want points... but for WHAT purpose, the points have no value other than "OOO! I got points!"

You are too young to be so cynical but you make a good point.

It is getting harder and harder to find someone with the ammunition for a battle of wits or even a rational conversation.

I think it is because we are entering an age of seeing things in black and white, this explains the popularity of "reality" shows where people live vicariously through the actions of others, never taking a risk themselves.

If you never challenge your own ideas, you never have to think

I've noticed more and more people not understanding sarcasm or irony. It's very sad. I'm a very sarcastic person by nature, and when people take sarcasm seriously, well, it's just depressing, and they do it a lot. Sad to say, I've seen it the most with other christians, like they're so serious they've lost any sense of humor they may have had.

Yes, and I also shake my head at the questions others ask.
Some of the answers are just mean and rude.
But, I have to admire some of the comebacks that come with it, and some of the beautiful answers some people have to give.
Some really help. So, when you sift through those people who are idoits, you find the true intelectuals who are trying to do some good in the world.

You must realize that most people here are just trying to get points... which means getting in the first answer... so you need to get the answer typed in as fast as you can..

this does not leave much time to spell check or to think about your answer.. so you just type it in off the top of your head and click and

ok.. and to answer your question... no.. I do not shake my head in despair.. at least some of the people are trying to answer.. they may get better with time and education.

as for the questions that I think I should be shaking my head.. or they ask a purposefully provocative question.. I just move on to the next question to find one that the person is honestly seeking information.

You must know that some people are just collecting points, and give token answers with no substance. Others just like to provoke or be controversial. Some just want to mess around, or mess with people's heads.

Nor can you expect everyone to be 100 per cent on your wave-length or necessarily understand correctly exactly what you are asking.

I would have said up to a 20 per cent positive response was quite encouraging.

I agree with the part for the intellectual future but not with the humor, satire, etc. The latter are subjective so you can't really judge their level based on your personal taste.

After all it all boils down to a quote I heard on TV:

"Opinions are like a**holes. Everybody has one"

Some don't have to look up words like satire, parody & humor. In fact some of us use them. How's the ducks? The heat melting them yet?

marsseedoess anddosiedosnldllllandseedivy

...or...

mares eat oats, and does eat oats, and little lambs eat ivy...

Some people can't hear. Others can't think. Some people only memorize what the think is the correct answer. And when they can't read for content, or they can't listen to a complete sentence...

It really makes me feel like a one-eyed man in the land of the blind...
