1st off if you're going to a wedding Black and brown might not be the best choices.Try to pick something that flatters your skin tones.I'm a big fan of red, purple, cream and green.Unless any of those are the wedding colors.Even a white shirt with a brown or black skirt.Or white with any of the colors I listed above.Outside of the cream fo course.
Now, yes you can wear black and brown together.Go check out What Not to Wear on TLC.Stacy and Clinton can give you all sorts of good advice.

I don't think black and brown are good colors that go together. With your brown skirt, try a baby pink shirt. Brown and pink are a great pair.

Just a tip about the shoes:
The shoes should always be the same or a darker color than the hem of your skirt. Otherwise, it won't look right. (I don't think you should use black, try brown but NOT leather.)

Oh yea, and remember to buy a cute necklace and earrings! Beads will finish off the outfit.

Yes you can wear a black shirt with a brown skirt: but if you go for this look, use accessories like a brown necklace or brown earrings to tie your look together. Black shoes would look good with this ensemble, to match with your shirt

Oh another suggestion: if you dont like necklaces or earrings, try buying mettalic brown bangles at Indian shops: they are very funky and retro looking and would compliment your skirt

Also: you could try another colour combination: black and white NEVER go out of style, and you would look very classy and elegant. Whatever you decide to wear, dont forget that without confidence you dont look good in general: so if you have confidence, you could even go dressed in a potato bag and still look marvellous!!

No you shouldnt wear dark colors to a wedding wear like a blue or purple with a brown skirt even though you should probably wear a lighter colored skirt and a pretty colored shirt.

I wouldn't wear dark colors to a wedding, wear light pastel colors instead! Also black does go with almost anything!

Why does it matter, what other people think is irrevilant, all of you people are hung up on "oh, does this match with this, i haventput makeup on for half an hour better go put more on, what others think of you isnt going to change wether you wear 10,000$ worth of clothes, or wear a paper bag, if they really think your a nice person and want to be friends or w/e with you they wont care what you looklike , or else they are bad friends/ bf

No, I wouildn't be caught dead in a skirt. I also have no fashion sense, but know better than to wear skirts. Maybe YOU can wear a skirt, though.
