It is possible, but the PITCHING!!! Burnett has to grow up, Chacin has to be healthy, plus they need one more starter to add to those two plus Halladay and Lilly. Janssen has moments of brilliance, but not enough to consistently win games. Tallet has potential as a lefty in the bullpen to accompany Schoeneweis, but maybe trade Downs and a prospect or two and get a quality starter to get them where they want to be.

I doubt it. There is no way the wild card is coming from the Yankee/Sox division unless the Tigers go severely downhill or the Red Sox do. But both teams have outstanding pitching to rely on. Even if the Tigers go .500, they will probably still make the playoffs.

I do like B.J. Ryan as a closer, but starting pitching must improve.

The Twins, I would say, have a better chance of postseason play then the Blue Jays because pitching is harder to come by than hitting (what Blue Jays have and Twins lack).

Gotta love that outfield, 4 guys who can really hit...The Jays are setting pretty at most positions, SS is a little weak..Roy Halladay is a great #1 guy, and B.J. Ryan is the best closer in BB this year..What the Jays need is a little more bullpen strength and a very good #2...

I know this is a huge stretch but to go big you have to go bold...Frank Catalanotto is going to be a free agent after this year, I doubt the BJ's are going to keep 4 starting OF...Ok so here it is...Work out a deal with the Giants for Jason Schmidt, who is also going to be a free agent...

yea I know the Giants are not likely to let Schmidt go as long as they are in the race, but, in the next couple of weeks if they fell 4-5 more games back they might be willing to talk...

Even if they could pull this one off, yea I know loooong shot at best..I still don't know if the Blue Jays could jump over both the Yankees and Red Sox but I think with Schmidt they could sure make it interesting...And, if they could sign him, pick up a good SS and some bullpen help for Ryan next year it might be shades of 92-93 again...

I don't think that they will, but they sure are giving it a hell of a try. Most likely the Wild Card winner will come out of the AL Central. So this means that the Jays would have to win the AL East to get to the playoffs. I just can't see them getting past both the Yankees and the Red Sox.

no way because the wild card is coming from the central (unless chicago or detroit majorly collapse) and thwe red sox are amazing so they are not getting by them

Maybe a 3% chance, and that's only factoring in their own division.
