That is one of the craziest sayings in the English language, isn't it! It's like "cheap at half the price" and many others. Enough is enough by definition. I think it should be turned into a word, like 'innit' and written 'inuffsernuff'. The other phrase I just quoted would also be written 'she-put Arthur Price'. In later years you would then find a question on here: "Who was Arthur Price and who put him where?"
