It means that they were wronged, and they are still angry about it. They have the right to free speech, and used it, but people got mad and boycotted their songs. They aren't the first to speak out about something, but they were punished for saying what they felt. I feel that someone should apologize to them because they have a right to free speech.

It is referring to the whole fiasco that happened after she made those comments about Bush in Englanbd a few years back.
Their music was banned from most American country music stations for a while and the lead singer actually received death threats.
Obviously it was her right as an American to have the freedom of speech to voice her own opinions - but it came at a very bad time - we had just gone to war and needed to stand united as a country in the eyes of the enemy. So she got a lot of backlash for it and this song reflects what she went thourhg and how she feels now.
I was very disappointed with the Dixie Chicks after that whole thing, but as much as I disagree, I still support that she has the right to her own opinions. And this song helps me undertsnad it from her point of view.

I believe it's their way of saying that they aren't apologizing for their views or opinions. They still stand behind what they've said and aren't ready to "make nice" just because that may be the politically correct thing to do.
I am a fan of the Chicks.... I voice my opinions and they seem harsh to some, but because I am not a celebrity, it isn't held against me by millions of people.
Freedom of expression shouldn't become a double standard just because you're a celebrity in my opinion.

Who cares? We're not ready for them to make nice either.
We're ashamed that the Dixie Chicks are from the United States.

Some members voiced the opinion (a right the USA gives us) and are still facing not just rejection but death threats. They're still under pressure to roll over and retract their position, which they're not ready to do. I think they can forgive those who disagreed, but not those who threatened their life.
If you don't like their music, fine (I'm not really a fan)
If you don't like their opinion, fine! (but as American's they have the right to say what they believe, as do you).
I still wish as American's we could disagree and have thought provoking arguements at an intellectual level instead of this bully type mentality (see some posts above).
God Bless Everybody

It is about the whole deal about what they said about President Bush. They feel that they did not do anything wrong and they are letting you know it. The song also talks about some things people said to them after they expressed their thoughts about the president. They want people to know that they have the right to freedom of speech and shouldn't have to apologize when they didn't do anything wrong.

I agree with everyone else who answered your question. They don't regret what they've said in the past. These are 3 beautiful, talented girls, who's music is critically acclaimed. They started in country music and are hoping to crossover into pop music. They forgot who gave them their start in music....the working person of America. If you're not popular, then you won't sell songs. It's a shame, but I believe they are committing "career suicide". It's no ones fault but their own.

It means they screwed up and they want to continue to cash in onit, problem is they have been having concerts canceled all over the country. America's silent majority speaks at the box office.

That they still hate Bush and make no apologies for their earlier comments about being ashamed by the fact that he also comes from Texas.
