It may be a lucid dream. I'm not entirely sure. I use to do it a lot. I believed that it was for real, & so did others.

There have been connections between Lucid Dreaming and Waking dreams and OBE's and Astral Projection, many people think that a person just dreamt a OBE but there is more to OBE's and Astral Projection than most people understand, Lucid Dreaming can induce a OBE if the person doing the dreaming has a disciplined enough mind, see the conscious mind controls the sub conscious mind in a Lucid Dream state and when you can control you sub conscious mind you can do incredible thing with your mind.

If you are interested, i recomend you read a book called 'Psychic Warrior' by David Moorehouse. It's a true story about America's psychic spies, a project called Stargate that ran in the '70's. Absolutely fascinating read, if it is true, then the human mind is a source of tremendous and unexplainable powers!

I had an OBE (out of body experience) back in 1984, I came out of my body and floated around the room as I lay sleeping, I even went through a wall, it wasn't a dream it really happened. I didnt know what was happening at the time, but when i saw myself asleep on the bed it made me scared and I sort of snaped back into my body and it hurt a bit. since then I have learnt alot and know Astral projection can happen but it takes alot of practice, you can find books on how to do it if you look for them. A great book to read is "Excursions to the spirit world " by Frederick c Sculthorp A true biography of a man that can astral travel at will.

i think its possible, i cn always see stuff and when they happen i think, deja vu, may be i cn astroproject into a different time and place, according to axes or angles or sth geometric, im always the first to answer a question and i feel as if its the second time they asked me, and its so annoying when u can see sth happening and cnt do anything bout it, its like when time freezes whenever i drop a plate but i can never catch it in time, sometimes when i close my eyes i can see people i know doing different things, as if it were a film and it seems so real, and when i tell them they ask me how the hell did i know? i just smile

I believe that you can... but like one of the other answerers... I'm not sure if what I experienced was a lucid dream or not... but it was very real to me!
also.. if it is true... you should take some precautions to protect your body before you proceed with it..
I do not recommend it to anyone.. because of what I perceive as dangers.

Of course it's true, I use to do it a lot, I could tell my friend to put something beside their bedside, anything, not and alarm clock or anything obvious that would be commonly at someones bedside at night. but something unusual which I would not have any inclination as to what it would be. and 100% each time I told them what it was, etc, once they put a newspaper but it was not a current issue, I was able to tell them which page was facing up and the headlines on it. that paper was 4yrs old, which they had in a shed.
Astral projection is like everything practice practice and you can do it at will, most people who do astral project don't realise they are doing it and it seems like a dream to them, usually someone over tired or not well medically tend to project without realising it.
I read a story once which stated it was supposed to have been used by the russians in war time, to get an account of various plans the enemy had, I don't know if that is true, but is is certainly a possibility.
and as usual what we don't know about we treat with distain and shrug it off as utter crap, when in fact some of those things are very true.
the experience is like travelling by thought, you pass into rooms when you decide to be there, there is no solidity to encounter, at first it can be scary and you tend not to stay at it very long but when you get more experience you go on long trips, to wherever you decide to go. it's that simple.
good luck with it and don't give up on it, it's a great experience and release from our everyday restricted existence.
always use for good never for bad.

I believe our mind can play trick on us, and there are no way to tell.
For one to say they can leave their body is to say they are spirit. The thing is i don't believe in spirit nor soul.
But, i think It would be cool if it were possible. Yeah, if it were.

Personally I don't believe in astral projection. I think what happens when we think we are doing it is actually lucid dreaming, dreaming with so much of our consciousness present that it feels like we're awake, but in another strange and vivid location. It's been said that not everyone has the ability to dream this way... it's also been said that people do not dream in color. Since I do dream in color, with sounds, smells and touch sensations, I guess a lot of my dreams are lucid. I know that sometimes I have to ask myself, is this a dream? and look around for clues, because it is all so real.
Last night I dreamed I was on a beach. There were ochre clouds over the ocean, and waterspouts dancing on the sea like persian dancers. I really thought I was in the waking world, but when I turned around I discovered that behind me, stretching from horizon to horizon, was a frozen waterfall. There was a girl standing there, and I asked her if the waterfall ever actually flowed, and she told me she didn't like to look at it too closely because it made her uncomfortable. I told her I understood her unease... I think the dream ended there.
Funny, so many questions on this board today about dreaming and waking.
Pinch myself...
