no this is a regional conflict, which holds strategic significance to WW3 but will not cause it. The US foresees a potential WW3 with china and wants a solid footing in western Asia, if and or when WW3 happens it will likely be over control of the oil in the south west pacific, and will begin with china crossing the Taiwanese straights, to gain control of the oil reserves in the south china sea, which the US is at present defending. Their aircraft carriers are already positioned for exactly this eventuality, from controlling the northern Indian ocean to the south china sea and the western pacific ocean. The middle east is simply critical to maintain logistical control from the Mediterranean sea to the Indian ocean.

We may not be physically at war with each other, but are at war in many different ways; the unresolved differences between many nations, and the disrespecftul behaviour towards different beliefs, religions and ethnic groups than that of each individual nation is causing a great amount of bitterness. The most recent example of this statement is the crisis in the Middle East.
If each individual would agree to compromise, and respect other beliefs and religions, then the world would have more chances of being at peace, and working in harmony. Unfortunately, not many people occupy this point of view, and this metaphysical issue could very well lead to a major mass of destruction...

Girlfriend, back in the 80's when I was in high school, we were absolutely convinced that we were on the verge of WW3 and a nuclear Holocaust.
Remember on December 31, 1999 at 11:59:59 PM the world was supposed to end?
We can laugh at it now...but be very wary of the fear mongers. Do your best to keep them out of the White House and 10 Downing St...

World War 3 started on 9/11. It's the war on terror. It's not going to be the apocalyptic nuclear war everyone fears.

Haha....no way not yet. We might have another Gulf War or Seven Years War in the Middle East, but we are not in WW3 just yet. If it does become that Israel does get out of hand, which they already are, but if it gets worse we will have a major war, but not a WW3. It'll just be a regional war in the Middle East.

No. There's not enough division in the world for that. Right now you have a few hot areas in the middle east and in Northern Asia. Hardly a world war.

Of course not. It's sensationalism.
If you had a conflict that involved significant world powers, then that might lead to WW III (e.g. USA, China, India, Russia, the EU). But that's really very unlikely to happen in the forseeable future.

Yes! In fact I believe it is all going to explode soon. N. Korea, Iran, Israel....
We have too many people, too many religions, too many old grudges, and too much money in the hands of too few people.
Japan has an itchy trigger finger and an inferiority complex.
These series of tangled alliances are what caused WW2.
And GWB is the one who is shaking the bottle.
